The Fire Place, current appearance, as bought by Alison Jacques Gallery in 2006. This painting installation titled The Fireplace consists of ten paintings and several photographs and collages, arranged around a fire surround. The work is concerned with masks and masking, exploring ideas of inside and outside, of hiding and revealing. The Fireplace points towards a realm in which the mask acknowledges its own artifice.
